About the Academy
The Academy was established by clinical leaders who are passionate about empowering clinicians to take the lead on creating sustainable, high quality health, community and aged care services.
The Australian Academy of Clinical Leadership provides a solid platform for clinical leaders to come together to design, develop and deliver training and coaching programs that empower clinicians and clinical managers to transform healthcare from the point of care up to the executive and the Board.
The Academy’s programs are designed to translate best practice into practical changes at a personal, interpersonal and organisation level. Each program is delivered so that participants can apply the program content to their work context and achieves immediate shifts and improvements to their management approach and outcomes. And the programs are based on a deep understanding of the challenges that are quite unique to the nursing and midwifery profession, its history and culture. Unlike more generic leadership development providers, the team at AACL has the legitimacy and credibility to delve more deeply into the conventional wisdom and assumptions that can get in the way of clinicians making a difference, lifting the veil on the real issues that get in the way of managing and engaging clinicians.
The AACL is a Registered Training Organisation and has the nationally recognised Diploma of Leadership and Management on scope. It also delivers a range of professional development programs that do not lead to a formal qualification.
About Us
We are a collaboration of clinical leaders from nursing, midwifery, pharmacy and medicine who have transitioned from the front line, through every level of the organisation, and even into government.
We have a deep and practical understanding of the healthcare sector, and the challenges that managers face reconciling the pressures of meeting targets and delivering good patient experience and outcomes. While we have strong academic credentials, we are not ‘just academic’. We have been there and continue to play active roles in positions and projects to improve healthcare quality and performance. The participants in our program find our actual experience incredibly valuable which we have a commitment to maintain.
